The deal between the Board Of Directors of Twitter and Elon Musk was finalized on Monday (April 25th). The news was confirmed by the official Twitter account saying the deal is about to be finalized. The post read, “Upon completion of the transaction, Twitter will become a privately held company”.
The official Tweet further revealed, “Twitter, Inc. today announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by an entity wholly owned by Elon Musk, for $54.20 per share in cash in a transaction valued at approximately $44 billion”.
Elon Musk also talked about the aim behind his acquiring Twitter in one of his recent Tweets. The Tesla’s CEO revealed, “Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated.”
“Twitter has tremendous potential — I look forward to working with the company and the community of users to unlock it,” he further added.
