After the servers of Overwatch 1 will go down, long maintenance is expected to take place. This maintenance is believed to occur for 27 hours.

After the completion of the maintenance phase, players who have preloaded the sequel will be able to begin playing.

Some Reddit users have revealed that the original experience will be entirely replaced after the sequel enters early access. They have also revealed that the Player progress, cosmetics, and other aspects are expected to carry over.
