How To Fix Google Meet Grid View?

The world of today has gone virtual. The face-to-face meetings are being replaced with ever-improving virtual conferences.

It is highly desirable that whatever means is employed, it gets as many people as is possible. Formerly known as Hangout Meet, Meet is a Google enterprise video conference solution, which exactly does that.

If you are using your Google account, you can interact with up to 100 participants during a meeting. That’s a lot, isn’t it?

But how many of them can you see? Well, in a single Google Meet session, you can view up to 16 people during a conference call in a grid format, unlike Zoom that allows up to 49 participants.

But if you wish to view everyone in your group session there may be a solution for that. In order to do so, you can install a Google Chrome extension to enable the grid view to see all participants of a Google Meet video call.

This extension works on any Chromium-based browser including Google Chrome, Brave Browser, Microsoft Edge, and Vivaldi.

How to Install Google Meet Grid View?

If you are not sure how to set-up Google meet grid view, don’t worry I will guide you through. All you have to do is to follow the steps.

Step 1: Go to the Chrome extensions and install the ’Google Meet Grid View’ on your Chromium-based browsers (mentioned already). To add the extension to your browser:

Then select ‘Add extension’ to confirm-

Step 2: Open Google Meet and join a meeting.

When a meeting is live, you’ll now notice a new grid button on the left side of the People button on the top right corner.

Step 3: Click on the Grid button at the top right.

Step 4: Check the box adjacent to the ‘Enable grid view by default’ option. This will solve all the problems you face.

Why Grid View is not Running on this Page?

The Grid view extension of Google Chrome browsers enabled users to get the grid view during video conferences but many users are now complaining that the extension has actually stopped working

However, the recurrence of this problem has intensified lately. The Chrome extension suddenly stops working. In fact, all the copies of the extension available on the store stop working simultaneously.

Here is how.

When the extension stops working. All you have to do is to install the newest version of extension.

But first the older version needs to get uninstalled. After uninstalling the extension, install the newest version of the extension.

How can you find the newest version? You should check its version in the developer mode of the Extension page. You can find it by clicking the three-dot menu button in the top right > More tools > Extensions.

After enabling the Developer mode in the top right, search for the extension by typing ‘grid’ in the search box. You can check its version now.
