The GroupMe scam is a viral fake message that is being sent to GroupMe users. The message imitates to be from GroupMe Support. Here is what the message reads, “GroupMe Support.

Hello! We sent you a FREE iPhone 11 Pro

Congratulations! Claim now.

Along with the message comes a link as follows,

hxxps://groupme.myprize.cf/wCt…winner=72217358.

Upon clicking on the link, users get directed to a suspicious website. According to experts, the purpose behind this scam is to direct traffic towards a particular website that is attached to the link being circulated via a fake message.

This fake message has spread like a wildfire and thousands of users are at risk to fall prey to crooks and identity theft. If you have received this message, kindly ignore, because it is a big scam.

Many users have reported that they have received a message from “Bella” stating that the user is selected as a winner of an iPad Pro. The majority of users have claimed that they are receiving this message from a lady named “Bella. If you have received this text from anyone other than “Bella” post it in the comment section so that users will get to know more about this scam.

How To Report Groupme Spam

To get rid of such scams and abusive messages, GroupMe users have an option to report them. If you don’t know how to do that, we have got you covered. Follow the below steps and report fake and unwanted messages.

To report abusive messages:

  • Long tap on the message you want to report.
  • By doing so, you will receive an option that reads “Report a concern”, tap on it.
  • Now, choose the type of concern and add all required details about the message.
  • Tap on the send button.

Report a contact for abuse:

  • In the “Navigation Menu”, select “report a concern”.
  • Next, choose the type of concern and add any further details required.
  • Another way to report a user is to switch the toggle.
  • Once you are done, tap on the send button.

Report group for abuse:

  • Firstly, tap on the group you want to report.
  • Tap on the group’s profile image and head towards settings.
  • Scroll down until you get the option, “Report a Concern.”
  • Select the type of concern according to the behavior of group.
  • Finally tap on the send button.

You can also simply ignore the fake messages to be on the safe side. Also, you must inform your friends and family about any potential scam. Also, do not forward any unauthentic news to your contacts.
