This art trend is mainly known as Lichtenberg, which includes people “using a high-voltage transformer, often from a microwave oven, and flowing the current across wood items soaked with a chemical solution.”

As you burn the wood using high voltage electricity, while chemical attached to it, you will get to witness some art like imagery on the wood. The final art resembles the branches of a tree and looks mesmerizing.

As the trend has gone viral on TikTok, some users have taken the trend one step further. What the TikTok content creators are doing is, they are pouring resin on the design to make it look even prettier.

However, this is not a trend that you can attempt at home. Several content creators are warning their friends to stay away from this dangerous trend.

The Fractal Burning trend is a risky challenge as it involves high voltage electricity. This challenge can only be performed in controlled environments and only trained individuals can perform it well.

After the trend is making rounds on the internet, social media influencers and creators have started warning people about it.

You would be shocked to know that, a couple has taken their lives by attempting this challenge in Wisconsin. The news of the couple’s passing came out on April 6, when the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office got a call about a fire breaking out in a home in Roseville.

The fire had taken over the house and a couple was found dead. Upon further investigation, the team came to know that victims had been electrocuted while trying fractal wood burning.

Well, this is not the first time fractal burning has caused harm. According to a report, at least six people have lost their lives between 2017 and 2019, following this trend.

The report says: “High voltage electricity is an invisible killer; the user cannot see the danger.  It is easy to see the danger of a spinning saw blade. It is very obvious that coming into contact with a moving blade will cause an injury, but in almost all cases a spinning blade will not kill you,” their website reads.

“With fractal burning, one small mistake and you are dead.”
