TikTok Drinking Challenge
Borg is the latest Binge drinking rite that has gotten popular on university campuses. Binge drinking is a famous rite among teenagers who live on campus. But the latest drinking challenge is so perilous that health professionals have warned against it.
Borg is a current viral TikTok trend that stands for “blackout rage gallon”. The trend sees the young students ‘mixing a half-gallon of water with a half-gallon of alcohol (usually vodka) and an electrolyte flavor enhancer.’
Thousands of students have already attempted the trend and many of them are even hospitalized. Just recently, a university in Massachusetts banned the trend on campus after 28 ambulances were called to off-campus parties following this viral trend.
It has gotten popular to an extent that the hashtag #borg has garnered more than 74.7 million views on TikTok.
Though thousands of other students are eyeing being part of this trend, health professionals have called it an extremely dangerous trend. Talking about this trend Sarah O’Brien, an addiction specialist said, “I can’t find an upside to it. I don’t think mixing a gallon of liquor with a mixer is good for any communities, especially younger generations.”

Several students are seen sharing the ratios they use to make their borg and experts are declaring it extremely dangerous.
Dr. George F. Koob, the director of the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism at the National Institutes of Health talked about the trend saying, “As with any other vehicle for consuming alcohol, the risks will primarily depend on how much alcohol a person consumes and how quickly they consume it’.
