So, what is the dispute that’s going on between YouTube TV and Disney, and why can’t you access any of the Disney shows on YouTube TV.
Why Are Disney Network Shows Removed From YouTube TV?
As revealed by the reports, the former contract between YouTube TV and Disney has expired. Considering the expiry date of this contract, a speedy re-negotiation started between both companies that eventually ended without any solution.
YouTube TV users are now left baffled as they are unable to access their favorite Disney shows. Following the concerns, both Google and Disney have rolled statements explaining the rift and how they are going to compensate their users for the loss.
A spokesperson for Google said “We’ve held good-faith negotiations with Disney for several months. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, we’ve been unable to reach an equitable agreement before our existing one expired, and their channels are no longer available on YouTube TV.”
He further added, “We will be decreasing our monthly price by $15, from $64.99 to $49.99, while this content remains off of our platform.”
In the statement, Google’s representative further said that “We know this is frustrating news for our customers, and not what we wanted. We will continue conversations with Disney to advocate on your behalf in hopes of restoring their content on YouTube TV.”
Following this statement, users seem hopeful as they think there will be reconciliation between both companies. However, neither of the companies has revealed their plans to reconcile so far.
YouTube TV users believe that YouTube is going to lose several subscribers even after the price reductions. The loss of channels like ESPN, Freeform, ABC, and more will be a big blow for YouTube TV.

They further added, “We stand ready to reach an equitable agreement with Google as quickly as possible to minimize the inconvenience to YouTube TV viewers by restoring our networks. We hope Google will join us in that effort.”
As revealed by Google the major component that took the companies to end this deal was Disney’s high fee demand for its TV networks than services of a similar size pay. Earlier this year, Google has cut off another similar deal with NBC Universal.
