The new PlayStation updates that are arriving today are available to be downloaded and installed today. The Firmware version 9.60 for PS4 is been paired with the release of version 22.01-05.10 on PlayStation 5 consoles, while the sizes of both versions differ.
Among these versions, one will take a little longer to download and install while the other one is easy to download and install. However, both versions seem to have a similar goal for the Sony ecosystem.
Here is everything you need to know about the approaching PlayStation patch releases for PS4 and PS5 consoles and the systems.
Ps4 System Software Update 9.60
Just recently Sony released the New Trophy options and a Game Base overhaul in the last month. And now the latest update from Sony seems to be a lot more exciting. The players are quite excited for May’s first major system patch as it is all set to be rolled today.
The new update is going to be launched now, and it will be made available region-to-region by today.
Even though Sony has revealed the Patch Notes, like usual it has shared minimum details. Some updates reveal larger notes that have listed everything while the list we have encountered on 12th May, is a little low-key and it reveals one tidbit of news for fans to follow:
It says “This system software update improves system performance.”
This piece of news seems to be the only tidbit that we are going to get from Sony unless console users flag any issues related to the update.
According to the latest update from the official Twitter account of PlayStation, “All-new PlayStation Plus launches in June with three flexible membership options.”
It is the only update we have come across regarding today’s PlayStation 4 launch worldwide and it seems to be the only update we will get to see.
Ps5 Update 22.01-05.10
As far as the Ps5 System Software update is concerned, Sony has listed a few items as part of the update’s official patch notes.
It says, “This system software update improves system performance.”
If you are an avid follower of Sony, you must have come across the new Variable Refresh Rate Support that Sony rolled in the previous month. Well, it was limited to HDMI 2.1 VRR-compatible TVs and PC monitors.
For those Sony fans who have not encountered the new Variable Refresh Rate Support, it dynamically syncs the refresh rate of the display to the PS5 console’s graphical output. It is a feature that already existed on other platforms.
According to Sony, this VRR (Variable Refresh Rate Support System) enhances the visual performance of PS5 games. It also eliminates visual artifacts including frame pacing issues and screen tearing. Also, the Gameplay in PS5 titles feels smoother as scenes render seamlessly, while the graphics look crisper, and input lag is reduced
All the previously released PS5 games can be optimized fully for VRR through a game patch and all the approaching games will include RR support at launch. However, it is only available in certain titles for now.
