This website aimed to create a term to describe people having a lack of sexual activity and people who are alone or who hadn’t had a relationship in a long time.

Several people who were celibate and lonely came forward and talked about their experiences on the site. Here, they made a platform for people having above-stated concerns. However, this project was closed later as they faced a hostile response from several men.

This viral term came to the surface in 2014 when a man called Elliot Rodger shot and killed six students at the University of California in Santa Barbara, before committing suicide. The criminal also left a message behind saying, he wasn’t happy as he hadn’t had a relationship with a woman. Due to this, he called for violence against women and killed many innocent people.

Following this shocking incident, many other similar incidents are being reported that revolved around violence made by incels. Considering all such misfortunate incidents, several people have demanded to regard this group as a terrorist group.
