Users sharing relationship advice on TikTok can cover a wide range of topics, from communication tips and date ideas to dealing with conflicts and steering different stages of a relationship. The Penny Method is a dating trick that guys rely on to trick women into accepting less effort in a relationship. The method involves giving a woman maximum effort at the start of the relationship and then slowly decreasing it as time passes by.

They keep decreasing their effort level in a way that she doesn’t notice until she becomes happy about receiving the bare minimum. After initially decreasing the effort level, she is given a little more to make her realize that she is being treated better.

For instance, they initially put in 100% of their effort and then gradually decreased it to 90%. Then they add another 5% to make her feel better again. Following this, they drop their effort to 85% and the cycle goes on.

A TikTok content creator Erika Tham shared this method on TikTok and detailed that one of her guy friends shared it with her.

Erika’s friend asked her to imagine a girl as a piggy bank. He further added, “In order to get her interested obviously at first you have to be feeding her hundred dollar bills.”

“But putting in hundred dollar bills is a lot of work and you don’t always want to be doing that, so eventually you reduce it to 90.”

Though the woman will feel a decrease in the effort, but as it was just 10%, she won’t bother and bring it up to him believing that she might sound crazy.

Sharing her friend’s ideas, Erika further added, “Now here’s where it gets sick”.

“The next thing you do is bring it back up to 95. Instead of feeling like they’ve lost 5, suddenly she feels like she’s gained 5.”

She further added that the whole idea makes her afraid. “Basically you just keep repeating this cycle and weaning her off your effort until you get to the point where you’re giving her pennies and suddenly, she’s excited to receive a nickel”, she further added.

Several users have taken to Twitter and other platforms to talk about it. Here is how users have reacted to this method of dating.
