Since the Corona outbreak, pharmaceutical companies all around the world jumped into the field to develop an antidote against the tyrant virus. The American pharma giant was also working on the vaccine with the first hint of virus. Later in March this year, Trump administration initiated a public-private partnership and named it as Operation Warp Speed.

In order to facilitate, develop, accelerate and distribute COVID-19 vaccines, Trump Administration initiated Operation Warp Speed. It is a Public-Private partnership which aims to produce and deliver more than 300 million doses of safe and effective vaccines with the initial doses available by January 2021.

Many of the public and private companies are still working for the cause. It is partnering with the components of, Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), and the Department of Defense (DoD).

Some other private and federal agencies that are partnering with OWS include the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Energy, and the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Lead by HHS Secretary Alex Azar and Defense Secretary Mark Esper operation warp seed is being funded mainly by the Congress. Through supplemental funding it has directed $10 billion for the OWS efforts.

On Monday we encountered the news that the giant Pharma, Pfizer has won the race. According to the initial findings the vaccine developed by Pfizer.Inc. and BioNTech will protect most the people from the pandemic.

As the news spread out, plenty of people came forward to take the credit. Vice President Mike Pence was among Trump administration officials saying the funding and support from the Operation Warp Speed enabled Pfizer to accelerate the development of Vaccine.

But the truth is adverse. Pfizer didn’t receive any funding from Operation Warp Speed for the development of vaccine. Rather, their German Pharma partner received some funding from the German Government.

Back in September, the CEO of Pfizer was interviewed by CBS news. Upon asking why he doesn’t accept government funding for development, he said. “The reason why I did it was because I wanted to liberate our scientists from any bureaucracy,”.

He further clarified. “When you get money from someone that always comes with strings. They want to see how we are going to progress, what type of moves you are going to do. They want reports. I didn’t want to have any of that. I wanted them – basically I gave them an open checkbook so that they can worry only about scientific challenges, not anything else.”

“And also,” he added, “I wanted to keep Pfizer out of politics, by the way.”

In another interview by New York Times Kathrin Jansen, Pfizer’s head of vaccine research and development said that, Pfizer has never been part Of Warp Speed. Considering all these facts one can understand that Pfizer Not Part Of Warp Speed.
